Just a few weeks after the city was awash with tie dye for the final Dead and Company shows, another happening is bringing fans of the Dead together. This time more local, in McLaren Park, Jerry Garcia’s childhood neighborhood, to celebrate what would have been his 81st birthday. The day started with the city proclaiming, August 5th, 2023, Jerry Day, with Mayor London Breed on hand to present the proclamation herself. Then soon went right into the music with Box Set, Melvin Seals & JGB, and Stu Allen & Mars Hotel.
