The Wasia Project celebrated the last show of their US tour at San Francisco’s Independent and it was was nothing short of electric. The intimate venue was the perfect setting for their distinct blend of indie-pop and experimental soundscapes, making the performance feel personal and poignant. The duo’s chemistry on stage was palpable, with their dynamic interplay creating an immersive experience that had the crowd entranced from the start. The energy in the room grew as the night progressed, with their lush harmonies and rhythmic beats inviting the audience to sway and lose themselves in the music. Though the duo only has a couple of EPs and singles out, their sound is dreamily expansive and personal. Their more well-known songs were of course well received. Notably, “ur so pretty” and “Petals on the Moon” caused many to scream in joy but other less well-known songs, like Sade’s “Smooth Operator” and the peppy “Misfit Biscuit,” caused a glorious uproar.
The show’s standout element was the way Wasia Project engaged the audience, cultivating a sense of connection that transcended the music. Their playful, laid-back stage presence added an extra layer of warmth to the evening, making the concert feel like a shared experience among friends. As they seamlessly transitioned between moments of introspection and bursts of energy, it was clear that Wasia Project’s live performance offers something truly special—a blend of vulnerability and confidence that left the audience buzzing.
