Psychedelic Furs at Masonic Saturday night, and I have to think it was a sold-out show based on the inability to move. Jesus and Mary Chain opened for them, and it was a great combination. It was my first time to see JMC and they were strong and played all the favorites. Some of the show not in backlight would have been nice photographically speaking and for the crowd. They had opening act Frankie Rose come in on a couple of songs and it worked quite well.
My first for JMC and maybe the 8th for Furs. There is a reason they continue to tour. The music is timeless and the crowds continue to come. It’s hard to believe sometimes that this music is decades old, but it shows just how fantastic the 80s alternative scene was in its longevity and the number of bands still making the rounds. The energy and passion for what they do has never waned.
This was my first show sans Mars Williams and for me, it was obvious that something was missing having photographed him all the times before which, he is quite fun. But the music, talent and desire for a good show have never waned with the Furs.
