What’s in Marc Rebillet’s brain, today?
Lots of things.
Dance party, raw synapses firing, comedy, beats, YouTube, sex, France, loops, soul, design, hooks, hip-hop, romance, and a lot more.
On his first night of three at The Regency Ballroom, Marc wow-ed the Bay Area crowd, many adorned in their robes and halloween garb, with his signature stream of consciousness beats and lyrics. He entered the stage in grand fashion, wearing nothing but briefs and halloween dragon-wings strapped to his back.
The stage was adorned with an inflatable playground for him to play in – some looking like giant tits, cubes that he could toss into the audience, a giant inflatable gate that looked like a blown-up Japanese Torii, and a monkey sitting on a big blow-up ball.
Early in the concert, he jumped into the audience to solicit song ideas and latched on to the suggestion of performing a “non-verbal loop.” Laying down a melange of vocalizations and percussive loops, the ensuing piece brought to life the audience suggestion – musical improvisation at its best.
Later, he introduced an EDM tune with a message about Waymo, and how they are stealing your job. At another, a microphone malfunction led him to ask questions about what was on audience members minds. Someone said “I’m broke!” Marc replied that he knew that feeling but “not recently” which led to a “broke audience” dance party on stage. Throughout the night, Marc triggered cryo nozzles and confetti cannons to punctuate his crescendos.
It was a high energy, fun, and engaging party.
Opening for Marc was his girlfriend, actress, & DJ Francesca Keller, who spun hits adorned in the same inflatable halloween dragon-wings. My girlfriend commented “ha – musta been a two-pack.”
