by William Wayland

A Sunday after the holidays.

Cold.

And all this rain.

Who’s gonna come out in this?

Jerry Hannan was scheduled to do a solo show at Rancho Nicasio, deep in Marin.

He anticipated light attendance so he told a few friends to come. Maybe they could jam by the fire.

His regular guitarist, Erik Smyth came by. So did keyboardist, Matt Meblin, and cellist, Alex Kelly.

Jerry told Darren Nelson of San Geronimo that he should show and fresh off the Celebrating David Bowie tour; bassist, Angeline Saris, joined the party, too.

He didn’t waste time with social media promos but people showed anyway.

Jerry’s friend, Mina, got up to sing a few songs.

With a population under a hundred, it’s possible that everyone in Nicasio was at Rancho on Sunday to warm up, have a few, and listen to Marin’s legendary folk rock singer songwriter.

And it turned into just about the most perfect evening of music you can imagine on a cold and wet January night.
