The Pointer Sisters & Lyrics Born at Stern Grove

The Pointer Sisters, currently consisting of Ruth Pointer, her daughter Issa Pointer, and granddaughter Sadako Pointer continue the family legacy that orginated with the four sisters from Oakland, CA. Three generations of powerhouse vocals lit up Stern Grove with a soul-pop set packed with classics. Opening with “Happiness,” they filled the afternoon with joy, delivering hits like “Fire,” “Neutron Dance,” and “I’m So Excited,” and ending on a high with the exuberant “Jump (For My Love).”

Opening the show was Berkeley’s own Lyrics Born, returning to the Stern Grove stage for the first time in 15 years with his signature blend of rap and hip-hop.
