The first thing I noticed seeing Cole Haden was his bellbottom jeans that I mistook for a skirt of sorts with strands of denim hanging from his waist.

This gave way to dresses, a shawl and an ever present hoodie. His sunglasses are on around half the time and while they don’t completely wrap around his face, they cover a good amount of ground. The name Model/Actriz made complete sense because the mixture and constant changing of clothing made every song feel like a small fashion show, and his acting was unpredictable as he was constantly moving around the stage, even roaming amongst the audience for two songs. One song he’s calm and collected and the next he’s doing wild kicks in the air, 10 or 15 at a time. This wasn’t as much of a musical as the time I saw an actual stage play at The Independent, but the performance was extremely theatrical.

Truth be told I was equally excited to see the opener, a last minute addition called Agriculture. They’re a local black metal group that has gotten decently popular from the release of their second album that came out the day before, and they’re even headlining the Chapel in a few weeks. Very different sound from Model/Actriz but one that was welcome for sure.
