On Friday March 27, San Francisco-based Mild Universe brought their groovy, danceable indie rock home to Swedish American Hall.

Led by composer/bandleader Sam Jones, the group is comprised of a whose-who of the contemporary Bay Area music scene with vocalist Mae Powell, guitarist Garret Barley, saxophonist Karina Alterman, bassist Mayya, percussionist Saam Khanzadeh, and keyboardist Adam Chillson.

Tucked upstairs on Market Street, Swedish American Hall is one of San Francisco’s older venues — all worn wood and chandeliers, like stumbling into a cool old-school prom. The boomy hardwood floors flexed with the energy as the audience danced and sang along to local favorites like “Your Love.”
