Modesto’s own indie rock band Grandaddy celebrated the 25th anniversary of their critically acclaimed concept album “The Sophtware Slump.” After 25 years, the album is as relevant as ever – dealing with societal issues around modern technology.
Bay Area fans were excited to join Jason Lytle as he sang the opening refrain from the opening song, “He’s Simple, He’s Dumb, He’s the Pilot” with “Adrift again, 2000 man.” A notable time when most of the world was very concerned about the Y2K issues. Seems cute now as we are dealing with new issues – most prominently, AI, and what it’s rapid proliferation means to our future.

Opening the night was the Seattle based band Pedro the Lion – with lead singer David Bazan and guitarist Erik Walters playing a stripped down slowcore set that was similar in tone to the main act.
