On February 20, 2026 Sacramento’s newest music hall, Channel 24, played host to sun-soaked reggae rhythms and high-energy performances as The Elovaters brought their Sunburn Tour to town. The sold-out crowd, filling the midsize Midtown venue that’s quickly become a local favorite, was treated to an evening of groove, soul, and infectious good vibes that felt like summer in the dead of winter.

This is the third time I’ve had the privilege of seeing The Elovaters live, and every time the band took the stage in near darkness, raising a drink in the air toasting to the crowd. Seeing familiar faces in the crowd from past shows makes an Elovaters concert feel like a family gathering. Even in a venue still new to Sacramento’s live music scene, the performance felt instantly at home. The band’s chemistry was undeniable. Jackson Wetherbee led a session of tight grooves, extended jams, and moments of collective sing-along, which drew cheers from every corner of the room. For longtime fans of The Elovaters, this show delivered everything expected-sunny vibes, a sense of connection between band and crowd and of course heart hands from bassist Matt Link.

Part of what made this show feel especially electric was the buzz around the band’s forthcoming album, Shark Belly Motel. Scheduled for release on May 14, 2026, this studio album comes as a major milestone in their evolution. The band has already shared several singles ahead of the album, including “Leave The Light On,” which provides a taste of the polished production and sing-along energy shaping this next chapter. The show included a perfect blend of older and new songs, including “Margaritas”, “Wind On My Back”, “Staring At Sun”, “Bills To Pay”, and a personal favorite, “Red Wine”.
For fans and newcomers alike, the Sacramento stop on the Sunburn Tour was a feel-good night of music, camaraderie, and a thrilling preview of what’s to come. With Shark Belly Motel on the horizon, The Elovaters are riding a wave of momentum that feels destined to carry them into an even bigger spotlight.
