If there is one thing I appreciate about a musician, it’s consistency. I’ve seen Steve Gunn five times (once as an opener for Dinosaur Jr of all bands) and I can’t recall a poor performance from him. This was my first time seeing him at the Café Du Nord and it was a perfect place for him as the place was packed from front to back. The songs off of his latest album fit well into his setlist alongside fan favorites like Way Out Weather and Morning is Mended as the encore, and hearing his soothing voice is always a treat. I can’t wait to see him for the sixth time.

Sachiko Kanenobu opened up the show, someone who I was woefully ignorant of before the show but was instantly entranced by her effortless playing. Seeing Steve play with her really demonstrated how much respect he has for her skill.
