First off, I would like to let everyone know that I showed some restraint and did not just have this entire review start with IT’S FAT DOG, BABYYYYYYY and then just have YYYYYYYYYs punctuating every few photographs. Please clap.
This isn’t Fat Dog’s first show in the Bay Area, as they performed at the Brick and Mortar Music Hall last October that I also attended. They had a reputation for extremely rowdy and energetic shows so I recall having expectations of every song to go off like an atom bomb. This was impressive because they got this level of hype despite only having about 3 songs out at the time.
Thankfully (regretfully?) this Rickshaw Stop show wasn’t as unwieldy crazy as to knock me on my butt or send my camera to the ER, but it did have enough energy to match the sound of their songs. This helped set my expectations for this show and it met them! The only thing this show was missing was a weird push up competition that comes out of nowhere! That was weird!
Anyways, go see the Large Canine if they are playing around you. You will enjoy the energy, the crowd and the crabs.

Opening the night were Godly the Ruler and Weep Wave, each of which ABSOLUTELY matched the energy needed for a Fat Dog show. Definitely check them both out.
