Cursive‘s performance at The Crocodile in Seattle, was a testament to their enduring presence in the indie rock scene. Celebrating their tenth studio album, Devourer, the band delivered a set that seamlessly blended new material with classic tracks, showcasing their evolution while honoring their roots.

Cursive perform at The Crocodile in Seattle, WA.

The evening kicked off with “Botch Job,” the opening track from Devourer. The song’s gritty and angular guitars, characteristic of Tim Kasher and Ted Stevens, immediately energized the crowd. Midway through the set, another track of Devourer, “Imposturing,” stood out with a unique art rock vibe that only the original emo band could create. And the song’s lyrics are typical cursive being both biting and introspective.

The band also revisited fan favorites, much to the audience’s delight. Tracks like “Sierra” and selections from Domestica were met with enthusiastic sing-alongs, highlighting the lasting impact of their earlier work.

Cursive’s Seattle show was a compelling blend of nostalgia and innovation. Their ability to evolve while staying true to their core sound was evident, leaving fans both old and new eagerly anticipating what’s next. You definitely need to catch them when they come to town!
