Thursday night the Rickshaw Stop hosted the Live 105 Sound Check Holiday Party with three bands, Tess & The Details, Bones Shredder and headliner Wilt. Wilt is a band from Los Angeles started by lead vocalist Chelsea Rifkin, drummer Dan Bermudez, guitarist/bassists Aaron Liebman, Andrew Perrea and newest member Jake Shipner. The band’s name came from a lyric in ‘Celebrity Skin’ by Hole. From the moment lead singer Chelsea Rifkin stepped onstage, commanding the mic with both vulnerability and power, the crowd was locked in from start to finish. The group blends grunge-tinged riffs with tight rhythms and melodic hooks rooted in ’90s alt influences but distinctly their own. Wilt’s live show is a must-see if you get the chance. They bring real energy, powerful vocals, and a relatable emotional core that resonates deeply with the crowd. Whether in a packed local club or on tour with bigger acts, they prove that their music translates to live performance with both intensity and heart.

The second act of the night was Bones Shredder, the solo project of San Jose-based Randy Moore. Bones Shredder just released its debut album, Morbid Little Thing, in September of this year. Bones Shredder’s sound is a combination of power-pop hooks, punk energy, and 70s harmonies. The band brought a lot of energy to the stage and always encouraged audience engagement. At one point, Randy jumped off the stage and went into the crowd to perform. Those occurrences rarely happen, so they are enjoyable to see when they do. Bones Shredder was a fun act to see live.

Tess & The Details open the show with their signature punchy, high-voltage energy. Lead singer Tess Stevens has a commanding stage presence, singing with an intensely animated face. The band plays with tight precision and contagious energy, encouraging audience participation throughout the set. The band’s relentless pace and connection with the crowd made for a memorable performance. Tess & The Details are a reminder that punk still thrives in the Bay Area and a local band you should make a point to go see.
