Ida, after a twenty-one-year absence, performed at Bottom of the Hill for an excited audience that had patiently awaited its return, and they were not disappointed. Founded in 1994, the NYC band comprises singers/guitarists Daniel Littleton and Elizabeth Mitchell, bassist Karla Schickele, and Michael Littleton (Daniel’s brother). They play a hushed, intimate indie folk sound that draws on indie rock, folk, R&B, chamber pop, and minimalism.
Ida played to a multi-generational crowd: Gen-Xers who grew up with the band in the ’90s, and Gen-Zers being introduced to the music of their parents’ youth. Violinist Jean Cook, Tara Jane O’Neil and their daughter Storey joined them for many songs throughout their performance.
The second performer of the night was multi-instrumentalist, composer, and visual artist Tara Jane O’Neil. She has collaborated with multiple musicians, artists, dancers, and filmmakers, performing at clubs, galleries, and DIY spaces around the world.
Storey Littleton is a songwriter from Woodstock, NY. She grew up on the road with a family band (Ida) and is the daughter of Daniel Littleton and Elizabeth Mitchell. She is currently promoting her self-produced debut album, “At a Diner”. Her music incorporates multiple genres including grunge, alt-country, and soft rock.
