Punchy, groovy, uplifting, and relentless. There was a feeling of triumph in the atmosphere on Friday night as Analog Dog celebrated the release of their second full-length album, IT’S NOT THE MONEY WE’LL REMEMBER, to a packed house at the Chapel.

The seven-piece band rollicked through a 90-minute set of material largely drawn from the album, which they describe as “genre fluid.”

Tightly arranged, energetic, and playful, Analog Dog’s sound fits comfortably in contemporary, post-Random-Access-Memory disco-tinged indie music such as Parcels, Poolside, and Jungle. Displays of genre-proficiency (especially the band’s rhythm section) were complemented by off-kilter keyboard sounds, doo-wop group harmonies about social media, and an extended guitar solo that quoted the score of Star Wars.

The band was lit with a custom lighting rig designed and installed by lighting tech Lizabeth Ortiz-Pivaral.
