“Hey hello, how you been?”
Just back from an East Coast Tour, ALO had a homecoming night May 9 at the Guild in Menlo Park. The Saratoga boys didn’t have to come a long way but they still said “Hey Hello” to a crowd decked out in their best frames celebrating the 2025 release of the album “Frames”. Friday night was not just a homecoming, but also a celebration of the new album, and the 80th birthday of Zach’s mom.
It was an “Evening with ALO”, so the crowd bobbed along and danced to two full sets of ALO music. A mix of old favorites and new tracks off “Frames”, it was hard to stop moving long enough to take photos.
A solo guitar interlude by Lebo was certainly one of the highlights, beautifully highlighted by the Guild’s concert lighting. Another special moment was a beautifully crafted mash-up of Dylan’s “Forever Young” and ALO’s “Barbecue” played for Zach’s mom’s birthday. Zach Dylan Gill, having been named in honor of Bob, this seemed a fitting tribute.
It was an incredible night of music and my first ALO show (gasp). The fans were incredibly warm, and many, if not most, had seen the band many times over the years. I somehow avoided the hazing and am now on team ALO.
The band will be playing Golden Road Festival in just a few short weeks in the Sacramento area, as well as High Sierra, later this summer! Go say “Hello”.
